Klimabonus explained simply

If you are new to Luxembourg, Klimabonus is the state grant that pays back part of the cost of energy-saving work on your home. For windows, it is calculated per m² of window you replace. You apply first, get approval, and only then do the work.

How much is the Klimabonus for windows?

The grant is calculated on the surface of replaced windows, in m². The higher amount applies if the approval request is submitted by the date shown and the invoice is issued before the end of 2030.

The conditions

For window replacement without an energy adviser, the 2026 scheme requires in particular:

• A building more than 10 years old, counted from the date of the building permit.
• Highly insulating glazing: a Ug value of 0.6 W/m²K or lower. In practice, triple glazing.
• An efficient window: a Uw value of 0.85 W/m²K or lower for a standard window of 1.23 × 1.48 m.
• An insulated outside wall (Uwall value of 0.85 W/m²K or lower) or mechanical ventilation in the home.
• Approval obtained before the work starts.
• Work carried out by an approved company.

The steps, in order

1. Measurement visit and quote: we check the conditions with you and prepare a detailed quote.
2. Approval request: we prepare the file with you, before any final order.
3. Approval from the administration, then ordering and manufacturing of your windows.
4. Fitting by our own team.
5. Payment request for the grant, with the invoice and the technical documents of the windows.

Combining with the 3% VAT rate

Klimabonus can be added to the 3% VAT rate for renovation if your home also meets those conditions. We prepare both applications at the same time.
